I recently took a look at this blog and realized I hadn’t posted it quite some time, so I figured an update was in order. While I may not post as often as I like on here, I do post in other ways (Twitter) and in other places (my companies’ blogs). My goal was to consolidate all this info into my personal blog.
I found a great lifestreaming theme called “Seven Five” from Press75 that was easy to customize. What you now see on this site is the “hacked” version I created from the base Seven Five theme. Some of my modifications include…
- Widened the page to the full browser width (liquid design) and added some color.
- Added a tagline that pulls from the WP admin Tagline field
- Revamped the main navigation to only show selected pages (via a custom field). Redirecting to other external sites with the excellent “Page Link to” plugin by Mark Jaquith
- Added an “About” section that gets displayed by pulling from my about page. Also added a Gravatar so you can see my freaky mug.
- Added a contact form powered by the awesome Gravity Forms plugin.
- Added a link to get to all my blog posts and added paging to that blog page.
- Added a second blog area to the theme so I could pull posts from both of my companies’ blogs
- Reorganized the order of some of the items (moved my blogs above photo and links – which I update less frequently)
I will continue to noodle a bit more, but I think it is looking pretty good. Hope you like it!
